This project as a whole was a very intriguing one. I had never actually read A Christmas Carol before and I actually really enjoyed the story. Reading it critically and connecting it to the time period in which it was written gave me a greater appreciation of the work. I had also never seen the film “Scrooged” before, so it was interesting to have my first look at the movie be directly after reading the story. Having the original fresh in my mind made it easier for me to connect the two pieces together and further analyze them both. I thought that the modern twist on the original story was rather well composed, having the original happen as the rework panned out. There were many small story telling elements that were used in the film that really assisted with the story itself. For example, when the film begins Bill is wearing a completely black suit. As the events that make him reevaluate his life play out, his attire gets lighter and lighter, and at one point somebody actually mentions that he is wearing a blue suit. Both mediums were very well thought out and put together. For my inquiry four, I chose to do an animation. This is because of my interest in film and video making. While i enjoy pinterest as much as the next guy, animation has always been an interest of mine starting with stop motion claymation as a young boy. In doing this project, I gained a greater appreciation for animators, as i see it is a long and tedious process just for the most simple of movements to look good. I am pleased that I now have the ability to animate and may even continue to do so as a hobby. I am not entirely happy with how my project came out. My paper and speech was fine, but due to the confusing and tedious nature of animation, I found it difficult to produce a product up to my standards. If I could go back and redo it, I would spend more time on my animation and really get a good one made. I truly have enjoyed this class and am grateful that i had the chance to attend.
